Palace Malice edges in Travers after rough start
Dogwood Stable's Palace Malice failed to fire early but finished strong to be beaten by less than a length by Will Take Charge in the Travers Stakes at Saratoga. W Cothran Campbell said Palace Malice missed the break and will run next in the Jockey Club Gold Cup on Sept. 28. Will Take Charge nosed Moreno to win the 144th Travers Stakes, his second major victory this season after Rebel Stakes and Smarty Jones Stakes wins at Oaklawn Park.
