Arthur David Johnson Jr 29 of Elko, a former Aiken County sheriff's deputy, died in a single vehicle crash on US 78 Saturday. The car veered off the road, crossed back, and struck two trees, one split in half, according to Aiken County coroner Sue Townsend.
Two men from Denmark, Sam Sanders, Willie Joe Sanders, and William H. Harley, were fishing near an old Oswegatchie River bridge in Ogdensburg when Harley slipped in. Harley could not swim, and Sanders attempted a rescue but both men drowned. The bodies were recovered and pronounced dead at Hepburn Medical Center.
