Republican Congressman Jack Kemp urged support for the Kemp Roth income tax cut during a South Carolina visit. He promoted GOP candidates and said the tax plan would cut individual taxes by 33 percent and corporate taxes by 3 percent over three years, potentially lowering federal taxes by 98 billion for individuals and 15.5 billion for corporations. Kemp spoke at a Columbia news conference with Rep. Floyd D. Spence and later at a $50 fundraiser before about 350 supporters, calling for lower taxes to spur private sector growth.
