Touch an Animal Day draws big crowd at Savannah River Ecology Lab
About 700 visitors attended the sixth annual Touch an Animal Day at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory. Exhibits showcased venomous and non venomous snakes, salamanders, alligators, turtles, owls, edible leaves, and berries while graduate students shared research on bird strikes and acoustic deterrents.

The Hopelands Summer Concert Series closes its 40th season Monday with the Aiken Concert Band on the Roland Ham Windham Performing Arts Stage at Hopelands Gardens at 6 30 p.m. Presented by Security Federal the program features fight songs from USC Aiken the University of South Carolina Clemson South Carolina State Presbyterian Furman and Wofford along with Aiken High School and South Aiken High School. Audience members are urged to wear team colors as the nonprofit band promotes community musical entertainment in the CSRA.
