Bohicket Road Won't Be Widened For Ryder Cup Tourney
Charleston planners rejected widening Bohicket Road to three lanes for the Ryder Cup site at Kiawah Island. Engineering notes warned three miles of road would cut up to 70 trees and hamper access to the resort 20 miles southwest of Charleston. Officials consider a two lane addition in a power company right of way but doubt completion by September next year. Shuttle buses may ease traffic. the tournament runs September 25 to 29, 1901.
