Sister Catherine Marie Lowe takes over as administrator of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Center on July 13 replacing Sister Mary Jean Doyle who transferred to Providence Hospital in Washington DC. Lowe and volunteer Harold Bertrand assess facilities and adjust hours to better serve Midland Valley residents through the Benefit Bank outreach GED classes and food pantry.

The Cumbee Center to Assist Abused Persons requests toilet paper and other paper goods as they near capacity with 25 residents. Private donations fund supplies, currently down due to the economy. Donations can be dropped at the center on Lancaster Street or at the Bargain Box on Richland Avenue.
