Touch on Animal event teaches children Savannah wildlife
Savannah River Ecology Lab held its annual Touch on Animal day drawing about 500 visitors. Researchers and staff, including Dr. Olin E. Rhodes Jr., showcased American alligators, snapping turtles, possums, centipedes, beetles, water dwellers, and venomous snakes with safety tubes. Displays also covered feral hogs and edible versus poisonous plants as kids learned about biodiversity and the labs role in the community.
