Unemployment climbs in July across many states
July saw unemployment rise in 28 states while 32 added jobs and 17 lost work. California, Georgia and Florida posted the largest gains. New Jersey and Nevada led losses. The national jobless rate fell to 7.4 percent as southern and western states show strongest gains. California added 38,100 jobs in July and 236,000 in the past year. Utah posted the largest 12 month job percentage increase driven by IT gains.

Oil price slips near 107 a barrel in trading
Oil fell for the first time in more than a week as September crude eased 0.36 dollar to 107.10 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Pump prices remained steady at 3.54 per gallon, about 13 cents cheaper than a month ago and 18 cents lower than a year ago.
