Jailed, cited after stops include open beer and insurance issues
One man was jailed after a front seat passenger tossed a cigarette during a traffic stop, and the driver lacked proof of insurance while an outstanding warrant led to jail. An Aiken man with an open beer on Hampton Avenue was jailed for sex offender registration while cited for open container. A 1989 Chevy truck was stolen from Nancy Lane around 2 p.m. Wednesday. An Aiken man said banking transactions occurred while he was incarcerated.

One of Aiken County's most wanted fugitives who briefly held police at bay during a three hour standoff last month was located and taken into custody. Joseph William Shaffer III, 39, was charged with forgery.
