Calhoun statue base breaks during move at Statehouse
A 5500 pound black granite base for John C. Calhoun fell about 15 feet while being moved inside the South Carolina Statehouse, chipping the upper part of the base and narrowly missing damage to nearby George Washington statue. No one injured.
