Nine Punished After 16-Year-Old Prison Escape

Three South Carolina juvenile prison employees were fired and six others reprimanded after a 16-year-old inmate escaped from the Broad River Road complex on August 8. The youth, held on drug charges, scaled a fence and hitched a ride to his mother’s home in Aiken. officials learned of the escape three days later.
