Aiken Adopts Electric Truck to Green City Operations
The City of Aiken unveiled a new electric Public Service Department truck used in Hopelands Gardens and downtown. Built by J.H. Global with a Trojan battery, it charges from outlets and logged 37 miles with about 55 percent battery left. Priced around $19,000 on a state contract, it offers lower maintenance and zero emissions while quietly operating at up to 25 mph. The city plans more electric vehicles and a regional grant effort to install charging stations.
