Surfing offers life extending hope for cystic fibrosis kids
In San Clemente California Rob and Paulette Montelone watch three of their five children surf during summer as a growing number of CF patients learn to ride. Saltwater exposure helps clear lung mucus improving breathing and family life. CF affects about 70,000 worldwide with a 40 year average life expectancy and no cure. Researchers in Australia noted breathing benefits a decade ago and saline treatments followed in 2006.
