Beech Island Garden Tour at the Farmers Home
Linda and I visited Gus and Gloria Farmer’s Beech Island property known as Glen Lula, a house with 1700s roots and later additions. The garden features ancient fig, Angelina Wright’s gravestone from 1801, a blue hen, hydrangeas, four o’clocks, oil tree, pomegranate, butterflies, six-foot zinnias, and bright tiger swallowtails. Their son Jenks Farmer trained in ornamental horticulture at Clemson and Washington and now lectures nationwide.
