Tenenbaum doubtful of another delay on PACT

COLUMBIA The results of South Carolina's standardized exam will not arrive in time this semester for educators to assess student needs. Education Superintendent Inez Tenenbaum remains confident the grading company will deliver on time next year. The Palmetto Achievement Challenge Test results for grades three to eight were due from Data Recognition Corp. by June 15 but delayed to October due to computer problems. The mandated report card, to be released in November 2001, will compare statewide test outcomes. Delays irked educators and prompted lawmakers to grant students a reprieve from failing the test this year. Data Recognition faces a daily $200 fine up to $25,000 for delays.
