Video Poker Operators To Get Verdict Today

A group of video poker operators in South Carolina seek to overturn the Video Games Machine Act as vague and unfair. They filed a 29 page federal suit in Charleston naming the state and Department of Revenue as defendants. U S District Judge G Ross Anderson Jr is to rule today on the legality of placing machines in primary businesses and proving substantial sales. The act limits machines to eight per location, bans advertising and Sunday play, free concessions and free credits. A separate suit in Greenville by the Palmero Association of Independent Operators covers 16 businesses and 45 individuals seeking damages.
