Clover, population 4470, welcomed Police Chief Troy Martin in January after William Howe's resignation. Within a week, 11 of Martin's 12 officers quit, were fired, or suspended as the new leadership confronted staff laxity and rebellion. Martin says he must set an example to enforce his policies.
A study finds adopted children show higher IQ scores when raised in well to do families or born to privileged parents. Matthew McGue of the University of Minnesota says the work clearly separates heredity and environment, noting both biology and rearing influence IQ.
