The Commerce Department reports corporate profits after taxes fell 2.4 percent from Q1 to Q2 1979, totaling 138.6 billion, while pre tax profits dropped from 233.3 to 226.9 billion. Inflation measured by the GNP deflator eased to 9.2 percent.
