South Carolina Jobless Rate Rises to Three-Year High
South Carolina’s unemployment climbed to 7.0 percent in July the highest since October 2005 as manufacturing losses and a larger labor pool pushed the rate up. Nonfarm jobs fell by about 30,000 from June while 18,700 more residents looked for work totaling 150,500. The rise follows summer layoffs and a new federal unemployment program.
