New rules to change school certification
Joel Madore a science teacher at Schofield Middle School loves his eighth graders and could not imagine teaching younger or older kids. New and pending state and federal rules require elementary education teachers to be certified for grades 2 6 not 1 8. The change pressures teachers to certify in language arts science math or social studies and may cause shortages in middle and high schools.
