Priority list set for median barriers in South Carolina
The South Carolina Transportation Department aims to spend 40 million dollars over five years to install median barriers on 264 miles of Interstate highways. Executive director Elizabeth Mabry says 2 million is on hand, with 38 million needed, and federal and state officials are seeking funds to meet the target. The plan follows deadly cross median crashes on I 26 I 20 and a proposed initial focus on I 77 near Columbia and nearby corridors, with bids to be sought next year.
