Alley space fight blocks turning lane at Strike House Bowl

Aiken residents watch stalled intersection work as Strike House Bowl and the City of Aiken clash over a 144 square foot wedge of land on the northeast corner. The dispute delays a $1.2 million project to add a right turn lane from Dougherty Road onto Whiskey Road, part of a broader road safety effort. Dougherty Road sees 13,000 vehicles daily, with a history of crashes between 2002 and 2012. The land fight shifted the project from the 2040 plan to the 2015 18 priority list.
