Aiken County Council approved a 2.7 million hospital revenue bond issue to finance a proposed county nursing home and authorized seeking approval from the State Budget and Control Board. County Attorney C Wesley Smith aims to present Aug 19. The meeting also approved rerouting a drainage line in College Acres at a 3000 C funds cost.

William C. Reining, Savannah River Plant supervisor, is named president of the International Health Physics Society at its annual meeting. A former president-elect, he has served as secretary and director, editor of Environmental Surveillance in the Vicinity of Nuclear Facilities, and heads the Health Protection Department. The society has about 5,000 members from 45 nations and 39 U S chapters.
