About 182 elementary students in the Aiken Attendance Area would move between Aiken Elementary East Aiken and Millbrook North Aiken to meet racial balance guidelines. Transfers include 32 white students to East Aiken and 25 Black students to Aiken Elementary, with other moves among North Aiken and East Aiken.

Family spokesmen would not discuss the ransom figure but said they complied with a letter's instruction. Sources say the amount is the highest in U.S. history.
