Eye Opener educates on diabetic eye disease at Weston Center
The Margaret J Weston Community Health Center held an Eye Opener health education event featuring the Educate Your Eyes Project. A retinal camera loaned from Advanced Technology Institute enables screenings for diabetic retinopathy without dilating drops and transmits images to Columbia Eye Institute for reading. The test is Medicare and Medicaid reimbursable, offered to uninsured patients for 30 dollars, with no appointment needed. The center plans to expand screenings to malls, churches, and health fairs through year end. For more info call 593-9283.
