Rachel C Poole of Salley South Carolina died at age 83 on Sunday August 9 2015 surrounded by family. Born in Aiken County she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Annie Lula Cooper. She was predeceased by her husband Martin C Poole Sr and siblings J R Cooper Mary Ellen Jeffcoat Otis Cooper Myra Poole and Katie Ruth Hamilton. She was a member of Clinton United Methodist Church and is survived by her children Martin C Poole Jr Linda Poole of Franklin NC Rachel Nell Rosbach of Aiken Jane Wiles and Anthony Wiles of Salley and grandchildren Elizabeth Miller Martin C Poole III Holly Alan Poole April Jamie Poole Sr Lori Philip Poole Sr Buffie Rachel Wiles Jay Butler.

Federal Judge Richard Gergel ruled South Carolina must reimburse seven attorneys a total of 130600 for 390 hours of work plus 4700 in costs in the Colleen Condon and Nichols Bleckley same sex marriage challenge. State AG Alan Wilson may appeal within 28 days.
Seven attorneys billed rates from 175 to 400 dollars as Wilson argued against paying fees, claiming punishment for state prosecutors defending the constitution. Gergel counters that fee awards compensate civil rights litigants, noting the ruling benefits thousands of same sex couples in South Carolina. Wilson appeals a 4th Circuit decision in light of the Supreme Court's late June 5–4 ruling.
