MMED bridge program helps African American male students start college
Equity efforts at Aiken Technical College led by Evelyn Pride-Patterson create the Minority Men Earning Degrees program. The five week summer bridge helped 14 high school graduates gain college readiness in skills and sociology. Several students enrolled at ATC while others pursued further education.

Law Enforcement Network honored for DUI efforts in SC
Second Judicial Circuit Law Enforcement Network teams from Aiken Bamberg and Barnwell counties and the Solicitor's Office received the South Carolina Law Enforcement Network of the Year award at a statewide DUI ceremony. The group posted a 41 percent drop in traffic fatalities since 2004 and featured MADD leaders and officers from multiple agencies in a united effort to prevent drunken driving.
