Holderman to Receive Honorary USC Degree
Former University of South Carolina president James Holderman and his wife will be honored Saturday with honorary degrees. The board approved titles including distinguished president emeritus in appreciation for 13 years of service before Holderman resigned July 1 amid criticism of spending. He later joined real estate magnate Ira Koger, whose donation funded the Koger Center. Lawmakers critical of Holderman offered no objections to the honor. USC will award 514 bachelor’s, 799 graduate, and two law degrees on the Columbia campus.
