A 1971 Oldsmobile was reported stolen from Sam Bodie and Sons Used Cars on Georgia Avenue. An employee described a black male driving the car from the back lot, with another vehicle a white 1977 Ford Thunderbird also leaving at the same time. The stolen car was valued about 1500 dollars.

Motorcyclist fatalities dropped 43 percent versus 1977. Through July, 10 deaths were recorded with the motorcyclist deemed primary contributor in 17 of the accidents, per the South Carolina Highway Department.

Columbia Residents Arrested On Drug and Forgery Charges
Two Columbia residents were arrested by Aiken Public Safety Officers on drug and forgery charges. Winfred Elaine Hudson attempted to file a forged prescription at Aiken Drug after the pharmacist flagged it as suspicious. Theodore Arthur Samuels tried to exit the store through a back door and had drug related items and marijuana seeds found in his car. Both face prescription forgery charges. Samuels also faces a simple possession count.
