Southern Bell and South Central Bell will be renamed BellSouth as part of a brand consolidation by parent BellSouth Corp. The move targets a consistent brand in a competitive, tech-driven industry. Southern Bell began in 1879 and South Central Bell in 1968, serving nine Southern states.
A 24 year old man who grew up in Columbia died from head injuries after a robbery in Montego Bay Jamaica. Kirkman Finlay Starring Meyer of Boone North Carolina and Katherine Shoener of Columbia were attacked in their hotel room. Jamaicas police identified the suspect Lansford James 31. The FBI found financial ledgers that could name people who aided a convicted killer on the run related to the Henry murder case.
