Aiken to Ride fundraiser supports public schools in Sept
The 27th annual Aiken to Ride will start September 10 at 8 a.m. from the H Odell Weeks Activities Center and travel through Williston Wagener and Windsor. Proceeds benefit Aiken County Public School system with route options from 25 to 102.03 miles and perks like SAG support rest stops and an after ride lunch.

Students win as United Way School Tools drive tops goals
United Way of Aiken County highlights the nine year School Tools effort. Aiken Electric Cooperative stored and distributed more than 50,000 supplies with a 20 000 item internal goal surpassing 16 000. Volunteers from area businesses and the school district organized two campaigns and awards for creativity. The 2013 program ends as schools pick up supplies at the Cooperative Community Room.

Wagener Receives $495000 Grant for Water Line Upgrades
Wagener was awarded 495000 from a 9.9 million pool of Community Development Block Grants distributed by the South Carolina Department of Commerce. The town will replace old lines in the northwestern area and upgrade smaller lines to boost water flow, with work likely starting late 2013 or early 2014.
