Rain from Hurricane Erin last week bolstered crops statewide and the weekend sun spurred harvesting. Corn harvesting slowed by heavy rains, but overall crop conditions remained fair to good, according to the South Carolina Agricultural Statistics Bureau in its weekly bulletin.

Rabid Cat At West McGregor Street In Out Minimart Alert

South Carolina health officials warn anyone who touched a rabid cat at the In N Out Minimart on West McGregor Street to seek immediate care. The cat shot lab tests confirmed rabid by DHEC, two people scratched by the animal are receiving rabies treatment as authorities search for additional contacts. The cat behaved aggressively, chasing people and biting tires, officials said.
