North Augusta council blocks overlay district amendment
After months long debate the city council rejected a second reading of an ordinance to remove the Georgia Avenue to Maddox Street segment from the Neighborhood Preservation Overlay District. The 23 to 3 vote followed recusal and council splits with mayor Bob Pettit and members Brooks and McGhee voting for the amendment while McDowell Dickert and Adams opposed. Pace of Mountaineer Pest Services seeks removal of his Georgia Avenue segment to allow General Commercial standards. Avery Spears Mahoney of North Augusta Forward presented on Main Steel America during the meeting.
