Vaudluse woman leads family drive sending dresses to Africa
Anna Pearl Lott, 88, of Vaucluse, heads a family mission supplying hundreds of dresses to Africa through Little Dresses for Africa. The effort began after a volunteer visit to the group's site in 2008, with sewing help from Lott's descendants and thrift-store fabric finds kept affordable. The nonprofit assists children across Africa by making simple dresses from pillow cases and fabric scraps, demonstrating enduring community spirit.

Suit against Jay Brooks continued in Compass Academy case
Aiken court continued the suit filed by Caniglia Management Group against Jay and Tracy Brooks through December due to defense inability to produce electronic evidence. The case links to Compass Academy investments, a receiver's appointment, and Brooks's securities fraud and forgery charges. The status conference on July 9 found good cause for delay as discovery remains incomplete.
