Billy the Kid letters go on view in Santa Fe library
Handwritten letters by Billy the Kid, writing as William H. Bonney, to territorial governor Lew Wallace are now housed at the Fray Angelico Chavez History Library in Santa Fe. The March 1881 letter from jail requests a pardon as he awaits trial for the Lincoln County War crimes.
