Nuclear Workforce Initiative Academy trains ATC grads
Aiken Technical College wrapped a six week Nuclear Workforce Initiative Academy giving 2013 graduates Gayle Walker Brian Frazier and Lyshane Bacon hands on exposure to nuclear field careers. Participants earned a Career Readiness Certificate a 40 hour HAZ WOPER certificate and six college credits while visiting SRS and VC Summer Nuclear Station.

The Savannah River National Laboratory receives the 2013 Industry Leader Award for safety from the National Safety Council. SRNL is among 55 organizations nationwide honored for outstanding safety. SANL reported over 1.5 million work hours without injury in 2012.

Storytime in the Park Brings Reading to Families
The City of Aiken hosts Storytime in the Park on the first Wednesday of each month. Children hear books read aloud and receive a free book to take home. Volunteers read, games and refreshments are provided, and families may bring blankets or chairs.
