First phase of preserving Morris Island Lighthouse complete
Charleston officials announce the first phase of work at Morris Island Lighthouse in Charleston Harbor is finished. A cofferdam around the base protects it from water erosion so repairs to the foundation can start later this year. Built in 1876, the lighthouse ceased operation in 1962 and erosion and worm damage threaten its stability.

Spartanburg shooting suspects sought after man’s death
Spartanburg police arrested 20 year old Marvin Dean Simpson in the Friday shooting death of 20 year old Arthur Lee Webb at an apartment complex. Police also charged 27 year old Derrick Fitzgerald Rector with murder and sought him on Monday. Webb died at the scene from a chest wound. In Columbia, sheriff officials report inmate Leroy White surrendered after an accidental jail release from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he was held for fraudulent checks and related offenses.

Arson Suspected After Lancaster County Courthouse Fire
A fire gutted Lancaster County's 1828 courthouse a historic landmark designed by Robert Mills with the roof collapsing and interior damage. Officials, including Rudy Carter and Police Chief Hugh White, say arson caused the early morning blaze which prompted investigations by SCLEDA and ATF and left no injuries.
