WWII memories inked in watercolors from a Sussex home
Patricia Barnett of Aiken found watercolor wartime paintings by her mother Mildred Blakeley tucked in a crumbling envelope. Painted during Britain’s air raids and blackout battles, the small works depict memory and resilience framed by candlelight, under a staircase. Barnett plans to share and donate several pieces.
