Panel to Begin 18 Month Review of Nuclear Safety

A 17 member panel of scientists and engineers will commence an 18 month review of safety conditions at the Savannah River Plant and four other DOE nuclear sites. Formed with National Academy of Sciences sponsorship, the group responds to calls for independent oversight from Sen. Thurmond and officials and environmentalists. County Farmers Get More Hay From Boxcars Delayed Unload

About 50-60 farmers were expected to collect 800 pound hay bales delivered in Augusta from Oklahoma. Miscommunication by Clemson Extension caused large bales to arrive instead of smaller square bales. Large bales require machinery to unload while small bales could be hand moved. Further boxes from Mississippi and Oklahoma are planned this weekend.
