The Philadelphia Museum of Art gains a 43000 print European collection from the Pennsylvania Academy in exchange for six American works and cash totaling about 2 million. Trustee Philip I. Berm an and wife Muriel funded the acquisition, approved by the Orphans Court, preserving masters from Mantegna to Rembrandt in Philadelphia.

Weber County considers revising old rules to allow dances once banned for 70 years. The review includes a 1914 dance hall ordinance prohibiting obscene dances such as the bunny hug turkey trot and grizzly bear. A 1924 rule banning smoking drinking cussing and disorderly conduct in dance halls also advances.
