Pittsburgh AP reports three new labor agreements with major steel firms on Sunday and price increases across most steel products. A fourth producer boosted prices on selected items to offset rising costs, as unions push for better terms.
A special committee on textiles in the South Carolina legislature favors banning textile trade with Red China until meaningful import restrictions are adopted. The panel acted Tuesday after President Nixon announced plans to visit Red China by May and said it will forward its request to the President.

North Augusta City Council passed a third reading for an ordinance linking sewerage charges to water usage. The plan sets a 50 percent sewerage fee with a $1.50 minimum and $6.50 maximum monthly charge to retire a $1.628 million treatment plant debt on the Savannah River bank. The goal is to replace septic tanks and require tying in within six months, while zoning permits will be handled by the Zoning Commission until a zoning administration office is ready.
