A job fair at the Hampton Inn will run Tuesday and Wednesday to hire about 50 workers for the 9,555 square foot store with 12 to 15 positions. The Fort Worth based chain operates 820 stores and plans 85 new locations this fiscal year while reporting $1.4 billion in net sales.
Columbia South Carolina students raised their NAEP math scores yet remain below national proficiency. Fourth graders gained seven points and eighth graders five over four years, outpacing national gains of four and three respectively, but only 18 percent reach proficiency.
