The six member Augusta Jazz Project performs chamber jazz at Hopeland Gardens as part of the Summer Concert Series. Selections feature alto sax trumpet trombone bass piano and drums. Heat eases slightly as South widens in late summer

Ex Miss S C in ministry keeps music faith alive

Wendy Willis, former Miss South Carolina, continues her music ministry across the state and beyond. Since stepping down last month she has performed at Eureka First Baptist Church and recalled starting the ministry in 1998 during her Miss South Carolina year. She notes the title opened doors to church services and school assemblies, having performed about 85 church services and spoken at around 120 assemblies in 1998.

Advanced Fiber workers vote on contract ratification today

Workers at Advanced Fiber will complete a ratification vote on a tentative three year contract after two weeks of negotiations with the local Teamsters Union. Plant manager Jerry Hawkins cited pension and benefit issues as key topics while noting no strike occurred amid the process.
