City of Aiken apologizes for the August water bill due date misprint which listed August 10. Bills are normally due on the 20th. when the 20th falls on a Sunday, payment is due by 5 p.m. August 21 at the Administration and Finance Building. Call (803) 642-7603 for details.

North Augusta Department of Public Safety moves toward CALEA advanced accreditation in a public hearing. Assessors Randy Nichols and Ray Scharf heard praise from residents and officials, noting 484 standards to meet versus 189 for regular accreditation and listing four area standards domains. The process continues through November with public comments accepted via CALEA.
Firefighters responded to a blaze at a Windsor residence on Cooks Pond Road. The fire engulfed a shed a camper a boat and a car and spread to nearby U S Forestry property. No injuries were reported as six departments joined the effort.
