Bond sought for mother in deaths of two children
Attorney Andy Savage asks a circuit judge to release Lametta Heyward on her own recognizance after she was indicted on two counts of homicide by child abuse. Heyward allegedly left her 4-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter in a hot car with fans and drinks as temperatures rose, then washed and dressed the bodies and stored them in trash bags. She has been held in near isolation since arrest with mental health treatment cited.

Father and son in bomb plot receive long sentences
Timothy Eddington 36 and son Steven Eddington 18 were sentenced to 50 years and 43 years 5 months respectively for conspiring to set off pipe bombs near a Charlotte area school as a bank robbery diversion. York County deputies stopped the plan August 2007, finding two bombs in an abandoned Fort Mill house.

Ex-magistrate acquitted in misconduct case in Greenwood
Former Greenwood County part time magistrate Lisa Cain was found not guilty after a jury deliberated about an hour. Prosecutors said Cain knew another employee was stealing money but did not report it. The co defendant Toni Cole testified and awaits embezzlement trial for $23 000 theft from the office.
