Suspect in deputy's killing held in maximum security prison
A suspect in the shooting death of Somerset County Corporal Eugene Cole was moved to Maine State Prison in Warren after a massive manhunt across central Maine. John Williams, 25, awaited an initial court appearance, with prosecutors likely to seek a July arraignment. Williams was captured near a remote cabin after a lengthy search that saw helicopters and armed officers deployed in Morrridgewock. The community faced a subdued air as residents kept gatherings small and mourned the slain deputy with funeral arrangements set for May 7 in Bangor.
