The forecast shows a 10 percent chance of rain tomorrow with no rain today or tonight. Temperatures rise above 90 degrees today, then fall to around 60 degrees tonight. Winds come from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph today, easing to about five mph by Wednesday.
President Nixon sent 1200 pages of edited Watergate transcripts to the House Judiciary Committee in a white black station wagon just before a 10 a.m. deadline. The documents arrive as Nixon plans a national address and faces subpoenas for tape recordings. He asserts the public will find proof of his innocence in the transcripts while White House aides transport 38 folders and four briefcases to Capitol Hill.
Charles W. Colson says Nixon ordered aides to do whatever is needed to stop leaks. Kis singer, then national security adviser, was more alarmed. Nixon reportedly demanded a full investigation and said he wanted results at any cost.

North Augusta voters show light turnout for city council races with five candidates, three Republicans and two Democrats. Pollworker Lewis Jolly at precinct 26 estimated 250 to 300 votes for his area and reported 55 ballots by 10 a.m. as a light start.
Graniteville Co and Hospital Corporation of America discuss a hospital project for Aiken County. President Robert P. Timmerman favored a public hospital but will not oppose a private facility if county commissioners proceed. Graniteville lends land. HCA seeks State Board of Health approval while the county may buy the facility in November if a public option is chosen.
President Nixon through his lawyers says edited tapes do not show a crime plot or prior knowledge of the break in. A 50 page defense submission argues the raw conversations prove no obstruction and no cover up before March 21, 1973.
