Israeli troops guns and warplanes repelled an Egyptian raid across the Suez Canal before dawn and sank four Egyptian boats. A spokesman said Egyptians suffered losses with no casualty figures reported. It was the third attempted crossing in five days.

The British biological weapons ban treaty trails in prospects. The Soviet and allies push a rival blanket ban on biological and chemical arms with national inspections.
U S District Court Judge James B McMillan ordered the film The Vixen returned to the theater pending a preliminary hearing. The dispute centers on Monroe police action after three Baptist ministers reviewed the film and deemed it obscene.
Two sociologists surveyed about 2 600 nudists over eight years and found that nudism reduces tension and sexual curiosity. The researchers Dr. William E Hartman and Marilyn Fithian note some nudists wear clothing to arouse mates. Of those questioned 25 percent reported more frequent sexual relations after becoming nudists 58 percent saw no change and 4 percent reported a decrease.
London AP reports Prime Minister Harold Wilson and the Labour Party gained momentum as the Daily Mail National Opinion Poll showed Conservative support narrowing from 7.5 to 2.9 percent. Polls last week placed Labour briefly ahead for the first time in two years, fueling talk of an early election.
In San Francisco AP reports parole board activity for Dr Bernard Finch convicted in 1959 for murdering his wife in a sensational sex and money case. A two day Adult Authority Board parole meeting will be closed and Finch is not expected to appear. Board will announce its decision later.
Igor Stravinsky 87 left a New York hospital after more than three weeks with lung and kidney infections. He returned to his apartment and, though very weak, will work on catching up with correspondence during convalescence.
An inquest judge found Senator Edward Kennedy negligent in the Chappaquiddick accident that killed Mary Jo Kopechne, disputing Kennedy's claim a wrong turn caused the plunge. Kennedy vowed to say no more on the fateful night as he campaigns for re election to the Senate.
A large South Vietnamese armored task force pushed 24 miles into Cambodia not firing a shot to take Chippu and enter Prasaut on Highway 1. U.S. advisers and air support backed more than 15 000 South Vietnamese troops in a pincer drive against Viet Cong and North Vietnamese bases. Casualties included 435 enemy killed and 32 South Vietnamese killed with 168 wounded. two American advisers were wounded.
Representative Marshall Cain of Aiken County said he cannot sign the 80 000 authority to purchase the Granitevill Co site for a new University of South Carolina Extension campus. He noted a 300 000 bond and a 1 million construction authorization previously approved, and pointed to a more developable site along U S 1 now found to be available.
Two men from Aiken were hurt in a late night two car crash near the Kwik Shop on Whiskey Road. Clifton Parnell 20 and Gerald Scott 25 were taken to Aiken County Hospital after Parnell’s southbound car struck Scott’s northbound vehicle causing a rollover and fiberglass damage.
