Ads Criticize State Senator Over Defense Work
The Republican Governors Association released a second round of television ads attacking state Senator Vincent Sheheen for his past defense work, drawing criticism from lawyers across parties. The push follows a South Carolina Bar site defending the legal profession and a letter from the American Bar Association. Charlie Condon condemned the ads as disappointing and urged Governor Nikki Haley to remove them. The latest spot portrays Sheheen’s role defending an 18 year old who pleaded guilty in 2000 to sexual contact with a girl aged 14 to 16.
