Fund raising stunt aims to reach $500 daily on scaffold
Chip Lawrence plans to stay atop a scaffold on Richland Avenue starting May 3 at 8 am until he raises $500 per day for each day he remains up. Proceeds support the American Cancer Society Relay For Life on May 14. Lawrence lost his father to lung cancer and seeks to honor him with donations tied to Ted Parker Homes sales.

Mary Wertz a USC senior German studies major from Aiken has won a Fulbright Grant the nations top scholarship. She will begin studies in September at the University of Tubingen Germany researching clergy wives with focus on Katherine von Bora Luther while continuing German studies she first visited Germany in 1994 through AHS GAPP program.

Fudge named interim headmaster at Aiken Prep for 1999-2000
Donald W. Fudge will serve as interim headmaster at Aiken Preparatory School for the 1999 2000 academic year. A Princeton and Syracuse graduate with 25 plus years in independent schools he plans to strengthen programs standards and faculty while emphasizing values and student participation. Bob Harrington will stay as acting headmaster through June as the search for a full time leader resumes in summer with a potential late fall or winter appointment.
